Travel Guide

Pack your bags, collect your tickets, and head out the door. You're on your way to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Whether you're travelling for business or pleasure, make sure you read out guide to the city first. It will help you get a picture of the similarities and differences between it and the Alberta mesotherapy clinic you're used to working at.

Where to Stay

You can consult the Winston-Salem visitor's center for suggestions on the best place to stay to fit your budget or you can search online for places to stay near your favorite attractions or the growers supplies convention. There are plenty of chain hotels you can room at, including several Marriotts, a Comfort Inn, two Days Inns, a Hampton, a Hilton, and five Holiday Inns if you want to know what to expect.

But who goes o vacation to see things that they could see in their hometowns? If you want accommodation that lets you get a feel for the city or you had a good experience at a Toronto B & B try local boutique hotels like the Tanglewood Park Manor House Bed and Breakfast or the Augustus T. Zevely Inn. Some of the local hotels also have restaurants with incomparable local atmosphere.

Where to Eat

There are hundreds of restaurants in Winston-Salem, so whether you're traveling with kids who will only eat chicken nuggets or exploring the culinary palate of the South, there's something here you'll like. Why not stop in for a beer and some pub fare at the 1st Street Draught House or take your kids to the local Applebee's? Have a treat at Bill & Leah's Ice Cream Cafe or REALLY treat yourself with a display of fine dining at Michael's on Fifth.

What to See

In addition to seasonal festivals and sports events like womens hockey camps. There are a million things to do here in Winston-Salem. You can tour a Civil War battlefield and maybe even catch a re-enactment. You can sample wines from the many local vineyards or see science in action at the High Point Discovery Center. There's a zoo, golf courses, theater, and museums dedicated to miniatures, farm life, anthropology, and art. Of course, no trip would be complete without taking in a college sports game and cheering on local favorites Wake Forest University.

What to Buy

There are, of course, malls where you can buy standard franchise clothes and aquarium fish foods. But while you're here try something local. Pick up some artwork at a downtown gallery, some antiques from the West End fresh food from the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market, some Moravian Cookies at Mrs. Hanes or some handmade crafts from the Piedmont Craftsman Gallery and Shop.
